Medical College Business With Dead Bodies - Trending News The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is facing dearth of dead bodies and as a result 15 students are forced to share one dead body for their study of anatomy.
The number of students sharing one dead body for study is increasing by each passing year. Today, the number is 15 students while some years ago it was six. The shortage is attributed to the apathy and lack of awareness towards the donation of dead bodies to the college.
Associate Professor of Anatomy Dr Pratima Kulkarni told this reporter that the very first lesson of MBBS first year course in this subject is the study of human dead body. Dissection of dead bodies is necessary to study the lesson. Today, the intake capacity of first year students is increased and at the same time number of medical colleges too increased.
